Not so fast.

Misleading and downright incorrect headlines about the future of Coachella Music and Arts Festival circled the web today.

They came from media like The Wrap and Huffington Post, two days after LAWeekly.com and Rollingstone.com picked up on The Desert Sun’s exclusive story about the future of Coachella.

In reality, our original story detailed Goldenvoice’s threat to find a new home for Coachella if a councilman’s proposal to add a tax to festival tickets hit the ballot.

Now, some of those sites have changed their headlines, and Huffington Post later corrected its report as “overstated.”

Better yet: “Saying goodbye to Indio” may be even less likely now that Councilman Sam Torres says he’ll drop his ticket tax proposal.
