At 18, Sally Kellerman’s career was already at a crossroads.
Blessed with a smoky voice perfectly suited for jazz and blues, the teen was under contract with Verve Records. But she also had begun landing roles in some deliciously bad B movies, including 1957′s “Reform School Girl.”
Acting eventually won out, and it would be years before she returned to music.
On Wednesday, Kellerman – who is best known for her role as “Hot Lips” on “M*A*S*H” – will be at Vicky’s of Santa Fe for what is billed as an evening of “A little jazz, a little blues, a little rock ‘n’ roll.” The 74-year-old is excited to be returning for her third appearance at the Indian Wells restaurant.
