As everyone gathered for one of Saturday’s last shows, Phoenix put on fan faves “Lasso” and “Listomania,” but I, like many, were torn between the headliner and New Order.
And while I wandered to the tent and reveled in New Order’s 80′s sound plus some sweet dance moves in the crowd, it was on my way out that I stopped short as R. Kelly took the stage with Phoenix making possibly the best surprise of the day.
Enough said.

Phoenix will release its fifth album, “Bankrupt!,” days after it headlines Coachella — and that push the pressure on to finish up studio work, the band told RollingStone.com in a new profile.
Here’s how the profile starts:

Phoenix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Blur & The Stone Roses will headline the highly anticipated Coachella festival lineup, Goldenvoice announced late Thursday.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Postal Service and Modest Mouse are also slated to perform.
Of Monsters and Men, Franz Ferdinand and Moby will take the stages during the identical festival weekends, April 12-14 and April 19-21 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
A second round of tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29.
The announcement followed weeks of leaks and rumored reports of bands that could perform at the popular Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
In the most hotly reported rumor, the legendary Rolling Stones were expected to headline after the festival briefly appeared on the band’s mobile app. RollingStone Magazine reported Jan. 18 that the band would not appear, citing “a source close to the band.”
The band does not appear on the lineup.

With a Coachella lineup announcement looming — it’s “coming soon,” if you believe one media sponsor — let’s recap one more time who might be on that poster:
Confirmed
There are 94 days until weekend 1 of Coachella 2013 kicks off, but who will take the stages?
There’s still no artist line-up, but it’s never happened this early.
That’s much to the chagrin of the dozens of people who post on the Coachella Facebook page each day, begging for at least an announcement of when the announcement will come.
Don’t count on that.
In the meantime, here’s our roundup of artists who have reportedly confirmed their appearances for 2013 and evidence that exists (or doesn’t) for the persistent rumors about other artists.

It’s Coachella 2013 artist rumor time.
There was the apparent slip from the Rollingstones team, followed Saturday by a second slip from Daft Punk, Phoenix, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Then there was that all-hologram version line-up we saw in the summer.
But when will the real 2013 artist line-up come out? Continue Reading
