Producer Damien Beebe just gave Palm Springs its first soundtrack since Frank Sinatra helped create the swinging Rat Pack culture.
So says Bruce Fessier, who wrote about Beebe — better known as DJ Day, or just Day — in a piece that ran in The Desert Sun on Sunday.
“Land of a Thousand Chances,” which dropped last month, is “like a hip-hop soundtrack for a Palm Springs midcentury modern pool party,” Fessier wrote.
It was ranked one of the Top 10 albums of 2012 by DJ Jeremy Sole of public radio station KCRW in Santa Monica, who received an advance copy of it last year.
Day, 37, graduated from Palm Springs High School in 1993.
