Blur performs on the Main Stage during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Fields on Friday, April 7, 2013 in Indio, Calif. (Marilyn Chung/The Desert Sun)
Though last week it was The Stone Roses that closed out the first day of Weekend 1, Goldenvoice played the old switch-a-roo on us for Weekend 2.
The English alternative rock band Blur replaced The Stone Roses (another 80s English rock band) as the closing act for Friday, drawing hundreds and possibly even thousands to the main stage at 11:35 p.m.
The Stone Roses played at 9:55 p.m. instead.
Though there have been rumors that a small crowd and a not-so-exciting performance are what bumped The Stone Roses down a time slot, your guess is as good as mine.
Stagecoach 2013 lineup has been announced!
Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum and Zac Brown Band will headline the 3-day event scheduled for April 26 – 28, 2013.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m., Goldenvoice announced.
Without further ado, here’s the full-size lineup poster, plus more information on ticket prices and camping:
According to a report on billboard.com, a reunited Black Sabbath was one of the planned headliners of Coachella 2012 before guitarist Tony Iommi’s recent diagnosis of lymphoma forced the aging rockers to pull out.
The report goes on to say it wasn’t clear which headliner (Black Keys, Radiohead, Dre/Snoop) was added as a replacement for Ozzy Osbourne, Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. But Radiohead is a Coachella favorite… The teaming of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg fills the hip-hop headliner slot (which went to Kanye and Jay-Z the past two years)… And Black Keys played just last year on Friday on the Main Stage just before headliners Kings of Leon. Gotta think Dan and Patrick are in a larger font on the poster this year if (and that’s a big IF) Black Sabbath had to bail.
This is one of the crazier Coachella headliner rumors I’ve ever heard.
Over the weekend, Snoop Dogg was busted when Texas cops found pot on his tour bus near El Paso.
Then on Monday, Goldenvoice announced that Snoop will be headlining the two Sunday nights at Coachella.
Let’s hope his court date doesn’t conflict with the festival.
