This Saturday, Josh Heinz, singer/songwriter/guitarist for Blasting Echo, is putting on the 5th Annual Concert for Autism to benefit the Lumpy‘s Foundation for Autism. The night will include performances by local bands and musicians including Waxy, Caxton, The Hellions, Giselle Woo, Michael Keeth, Johnny Elsewhere and Heinz’s own band, Blasting Echo.
Autism is an issue that hits close to home for Heinz and his bandmates – guitarist Jeff Fortson, drummer Mondo Flores and keyboardist Linda Lemke. Each has a son with Autism.
The concert will be held at the Indio Performing Arts Center (IPAC) on Saturday, May 19th. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Music starts at 7:30 pm and goes till 1 am. The Indio Performing Arts Center is located at 45175 Fargo Street, Indio, CA 92201. A suggested donation of $5.00 will be collected for the cause at the door, and donations will be accepted throughout the night. There will also be silent auctions and raffles with items donated by several area businesses. Participating businesses include Musician‘s Outlet, Lumpy’s, Ernie Ball, Record Alley, Silica Studios and many more.
Last year the benefit raised $3,300 for the Coachella Valley Autism Society. To celebrate this year, the 5th annual event, Heinz hopes to reach a goal of $5,000. The proceeds will be donated to the Lumpy’s Foundation for Autism This foundation provides financial assistance to families with autistic children so they may afford vital therapies. It also gives to Coachella Valley Autism Society to assist with activities and programs for children with Autism and their families.
