The S.S. Coachella plays host to Girl Talk, aka Gregg Gillis, on its maiden voyage this December.
The Pittsburgh DJ and remixer also played Coachella on land in 2007, 2009 and 2012, and MyCoachella alum Sonya English had this to say about the high-energy act this spring:
My first thought when I saw Girl Talk on the Coachella lineup was something like “HELL YES.”
My second thought — I mean it — was: Am I in shape for this?

As you might expect, that much-talked-about headlining set from Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg is one of the MyCoachella team’s top picks for Sunday.
Other acts that are worth your while: The Hives, Girl Talk and Florence + the Machine.
Before we get to today’s set times, a scheduling note: While most of Coachella set times have been unchanged since last weekend, almost all of Sunday’s Sahara Tent performances start a little earlier today than they did a week ago.
MyCoachella’s Kate McGinty notes that this keeps AVICII from competing with the headliners.

The enthusiasm this man ratchets up from mixing one bassline with another melody and laying a different set of lyrics on top of it is total nonsense. There’s no reason it should be as good as it is. You dance and you dance and if someone had $1 million cash-in-hand for the person who could stand still the longest, the contest would be quick.
This concert was the best workout of my life, and I’m a spin class enthusiast.
I first saw Girl Talk at Abe & Jake’s Landing in my college town, Lawrence, Kan. Gregg Gillis (the mix-master’s given name) took the stage wearing something like a T-shirt and jeans. When I glanced up later, he was shirtless, slender white chest glistening, and his long brown hair was dripping like a wet mop as he shook his head to the beat, perched on the table next to — on top of? — his electronics. (The New York Times reported in 2008 that he went through three reinforced Toughbook laptops in a year because his live show took such a toll on them.)
God, I was happy. Partly it was a rush from the thought “Oh, I love this song” rapid-firing in my brain for an hour straight. Some of it was probably endorphins from dancing with every muscle. Laughing at his absurd lyric combinations fed the good energy.
Whatever the magic, I’ll be disappointed if I’m not gasping for air at the end of this set.
My advice: Come hydrated. Start your aerobic training now.
See for yourself: Girl Talk plays Sunday at Coachella 2012.
