The five members of the Desert Hot Springs band Slipping Into Darkness learned four days ago they were playing Coachella.
They didn’t make the top 10 finishers of the mydesert.com Tachevah contest because “we didn’t tell anyone to vote,” said lead singer and guitarist Michael Durazo. But someone from Goldenvoice called them and told them they were one of just two Coachella Valley bands getting into Coachella anyway.
Without a word, Desert Hot Springs City Council abandoned plans Tuesday for the Wellness and World Music Festival that cost taxpayers $265,000.
