The resulting album ventures in unexpected directions. Fitzpatrick cites new track “Out of My League” – with its blend of vintage organs and Eighties drum machines – as representative of that change in direction
No surprise here: A Coachella2012 artist stole the No. 1 spot, and a second artist slides in at No. 4. If you count cameos (Wiz Khalifa, Usher), then artists behind all five of the top songs were represented at Coachella this year!
What do you think of Shazam’s picks?
“Somebody that I Used to Know” by Gotye
“Scream” by Usher
“Payphone” by Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa
“Let’s Go” by Calvin Harris featuring Ne-Yo
“Touch ‘N You” by Rick Ross featuring Usher
“Balada Boa” by Gusttavo Lima
“Feel the Love” by Rudamental featuring John Newman
As everyone floods into the festival grounds at the Empire Polo Club, a U-turn can cost you time and maybe even a band’s show. After you’re parked, be ready to walk 15-20 minutes from your parking spot to the stages.
If that’s not your style/time frame, hop onto a bike-driven carriage. They’re working for tips, so throw your driver at least $5/head.
Free all-day parking is located at Avenue 52 and Clinton, in lots 14 and 15. Drive slowly and be sure to employ the Midwest wave if you do need to U-turn and someone lets you in.
Weather update: High of 70 my butt. It’s hot out here. Wear loose-fitting, light-weight clothing and SPF on your exposed skin, then bring layers for when the clouds and rain come in later on.

Coachella ticket packages started arriving in the Coachella Valley last week. One local UPS location is receiving at least 40 ticket boxes a day. I met a man today who picked up his package, repackaged it, and sent it out to his kids. That’s happening a lot, according to the guy at the UPS counter. What’s in the box? Ticket passes (wristbands), Car Camping Pass, Welcome Guide, 2012-2013 Calendar/Poster, Coachella Decal and a Coachella diorama.
