Coachella announcement on Monday likely about Coachella 2014 ticket sale

The Coachella website shows a hint about an announcement coming Monday.

Goldenvoice will make a Coachella-related announcement on Monday — and music fans can probably get ready to open their wallets for next year’s festival.

A picture posted to the Coachella website and social media accounts on Friday shows an artistic photo of Coachella with the text: “10 a.m. Monday.”

If history holds true, Goldenvoice will likely announce the dates for the 2014 festival weekends as well as an advanced ticket sale that could happen within days.

It was about this time last year — May 14, 2012 — that Goldenvoice announced the next year’s dates, then opened advance sales from May 17-24, 2012.

The Desert Sun’s music site — MyCoachella.com — will provide an update as soon as the announcement is made on Monday.

Festival producer Goldenvoice announced an attendance figure for its Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals this month that is larger than the population of Coachella Valley.

Passion Pit, an indie band with one of the biggest hits in the country, will headline Tachevah: A Palm Springs Block Party, Goldenvoice and The Desert Sun announced today.

Passion Pit’s current hit, “Carried Away,” recently spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Alt-Nation weekly countdown on Sirius satellite radio. Its latest album, “Gossamer,” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 last year and also produced the radio hit, “Take A Walk.”

Tachevah 2013: Headliner announcement coming — but get hints now

Tachevah 2013Tachevah organizers will announce the headlining artist on Friday morning — but we can’t wait until then.

Follow @Tachevah for hints throughout the day Thursday and to be the first to know when the artist is announced on Friday.

The Goldenvoice-selected artist will rock downtown Palm Springs after opening acts The Pedestrians, Tribesmen, and You Me & Us, who won spots on the lineup after 95,000 votes were cast.

DJ Alf Alpha will keep the groove going between sets at the free block party.

The Pedestrians, Tribesmen, and You Me & Us will open for the headliner selected by Goldenvoice, and DJ Alf Alpha will keep the groove going between sets.

Goldenvoice announced that first weekend Coachella Festival 2013 passes will be available online for local residents.

Tickets are still sold out to residents living outside of these area codes:

Prices for passes are $349 with all fees included.

Tachevah 2013Pedestrians Vs, Tribesmen and You Me and Us have been chosen to perform as opening acts at the first-ever Tachevah: A Palm Springs block party!

  • The Pedestrians. is a horn-supplemented band from Indio featuring a fusion of punk, ska, funk and hip-hop
  • The Tribesmen is an indie experimental band from Coachella that emphasizes instrumental music
  • You, Me & Us is a Bermuda Dunes indie duo that recently played South By Southwest

Eighty-three bands submitted music videos.

During one week of voting, you cast more than 95,000 votes for which bands should play Tachevah: A Palm Springs block party!

Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett, Goldenvoice vice president Skip Paige, and MyDesert.com music guru Bruce Fessier conferred Sunday and chose from among the Top 10 for the the three lucky winners.

The three bands will score free admission to Coachella — and will perform April 17 (between Coachella weekends) in front of Goldenvoice executives, the MyDesert.com audience and you, the fans.

DJ Alf Alpha will keep the groove going, and the headliner will be a Coachella act that will be announced soon.

The party — think beer garden + live music — runs from 5 to 11 p.m. April 17 at Spa Resort Casino, 401 E. Amado Road in Palm Springs. Each band will perform for 30 minutes.

Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett expressed interest in booking bands among the Top 10 acts for concerts at Goldenvoice venues throughout Southern California.

During the one week of voting you narrowed the field from 83 bands that submitted music videos.

The Top 10 bands, in alphabetical order:

The Top 10 bands’ videos now advance to the judges — Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett, Goldenvoice vice president Skip Paige, and MyDesert.com music guru Bruce Fessier.

Over the weekend, the judges will choose the three lucky winners.

Those three bands will score free admission to Coachella — and will perform April 17 (between Coachella weekends) in front of Goldenvoice executives, the MyDesert.com audience and you, the fans.
