Packing for the final day of Coachella 2013? Don’t forget a refillable water bottle.
The $2 disposable bottles on sale at the festival probably won’t break the bank, but if you’re down with tap water, using the water refill station can save you some cash — and save a little piece of the environment too, I suppose.
I finally found the faucets Saturday night, tucked between the Yuma tent and the bathrooms, although as soon as I posted a photo to Instagram, I saw the refill station is also a Foursquare location that I could’ve looked up in that app. Better late than dehydrated, eh?

Ian Svenonius stands up in the crowd, supported by fans, as The Make-Up plays the Gobi tent Saturday, April 20, during the second weekend of Coachella 2013. (Brian Indrelunas, The Desert Sun)

My first and only other Coachella was 2010, which might as well have been called Crowdchella.
This is what it was like getting out of Crowdchella (2010) after headliner Gorillaz on Sunday night, and the rest of the weekend felt just about as packed. (Brian Indrelunas, The Desert Sun)
Though my friends and co-workers who had been to the fest before complained, I didn’t know any better and secretly wondered if the long lines, general inability to move around freely (Heading from the Sahara tent to the Outdoor Theatre? That must’ve taken 20 to 30 minutes.) and hours waiting in the parking lot at night were merely a little bit worse than usual. Continue Reading
Earlier today, someone on the MyCoachella team joked, “Is today British day?”
That prompted a group effort to listing every band we knew, thought or just hoped was British. Continue Reading
Helix Poeticus, the giant snail at Coachella. (Tatiana Sanchez, The Desert Sun)
Its official name is Helix Poeticus,
but most people know it as the giant snail roaming the Coachella
grounds this year.
The snail, an art project from Los Angeles-based Poetic Kinetics, has become a fixture of tweets and Instagram pics from this year’s fest, and those in the know call it by its Twitter handle, @CoachellaSnail.
Here are a few fun facts about Helix: Continue Reading
